Tame your space with these tips from an interior designer.
If you’re pressed for time (and who isn’t?), there’s no need to tackle a total home reorganization right away. Just one or two small changes can tame clutter and help your home feel organized, refreshed and renewed, says Shelby Girard, the head of design for Havenly, an online interior design service. If you’re looking for fast and easy ways to organize your house by tomorrow, Girard’s easy, budget-friendly ideas are a great place to start. Tackle an item from the list tonight, and tomorrow enjoy the sense of peace that comes from knowing you’ve conquered the clutter in at least one corner of your home. Ask any working mom—that counts as quite the accomplishment.
1. Create Clear Zones
Consider all of the activities you will want to do in the space, and designate certain areas for those things. Whether it’s eating, sleeping, lounging and so on, they should all take place in different areas of your home.

2. Streamline Your Nightstand
Your bedroom should feel soothing, not cluttered and stressful. Limit your nightstand accessories to a jewelry dish, fresh flowers, and a scented candle. Add a photo frame for a sentimental touch.

3. Illuminate Your Space
In addition to its straight-up eye-candy appeal, beautiful light fixtures brighten up a room and will inspire you to keep it clean.

4. Swap Out Your Coffee Table, ASAP
Instead of a traditional coffee table, use a tufted ottoman with available interior storage. You’re never wiping sticky fingers off a glass surface or worrying about kiddos bumping into corners, and it gives you the easy access to throw in toys or other items when a guest is on her way over.

5. Make Your Bed
It might sound simple, but you shouldn’t underestimate the power of swapping out your bedding in the winter. There’s nothing better than a substantial comforter and cozy bedding to keep warm during the colder months, and you’ll be surprised how refreshing such a small change can be.

6. Tame Clutter With a Tray
Don’t allow drink coasters, a remote and coffee table books to just take up space. Use a tray to designate space for all those odds and ends—you’ll instantly feel better.

7. Mobilize Your Alcohol
Bar carts have become the new way to dress up your space while still streamlining your cabinet and countertop storage. With tiny options that are easy to tuck away or pull out while entertaining, we love the flexibility that a bar cart brings when organizing your space.

8. Elevate Your Playroom Shelving
Add a playful and highly visual element—such as numbers, letters or shapes—to encourage organization skills in your wee ones.

9. Go Green
Natural elements like a jute rug, bamboo shades or a wood vase foster an inner sense of calm and peace because of the ties to the great outdoors. Introducing a little greenery to your space will only make you feel better.

10. Stop Hiding Your Knick Knacks
We’re big believers in the story that a well-styled bookcase can tell. Take twenty minutes to organize your bookcase with all those little tidbits that never seem to have a place to belong, and see what you create!
